Minutes:

Thanks were given to Councillor Maxwell in the following terms:-

Councillor Cheryl Butler - Leader of the Council

“Thank you Chairman.  Glenys has had a very successful year, not only has she raised over £2,000 for her chosen charity, John Eastwood Hospice, she has been a brilliant ambassador for Ashfield when out and about carrying out her duties.

I know she has thoroughly enjoyed this role, even managing to keep her cool in this Chamber when it became a little overwrought at times.  On behalf of the Labour Members, thank you Glenys but also a personal thank you from me as you have given your all to this role.  Thank you very much.”

Councillor Jason Zadrozny – Main Opposition Group

“Thank you Chairman and may I add my congratulations to you in your forthcoming year as Chairman.

Glenys……what a job and not an easy job because we can sometimes be a bit mischievous in this room and sometimes it can be difficult to control us when we get passionate about things.  You have done a fantastic job and my Group, the Independent Group, think that you really do deserve a debt of thanks because during difficult political times you have managed to be fair to all groups across this Chamber, you have managed to do that with a smile and with the hand of friendship outside the Chamber.  I think only you could have done that in this year.

I think we need a genuine acknowledgement of what you have done for this Council, raising the bar of standards that had slipped across the Chamber over recent years…..you’ve brought this back and you’ve done it not only here but as we’ve seen you on the front page of The Chad, saving people’s lives!

My colleague said to me did you know our Chairman is a swinger…I said pardon….she opened up the park in Selston and was the first on the swings showing all the young people where to go!

From one end of the District to the other, you have gone there with a smile and good grace and been an amazing ambassador for this District and I really hope you have enjoyed your year, you have done us proud.  From us on this side a real big thank you.”

Councillor Kevin Rostance – Conservative Group

“Thank you Chairman and David, I wish you well.

Glenys….I don’t know what we can say really but fantastic!  I didn’t know you were a swinger but I guess I should have known that from your appearance on Hucknall Market Place.  You were wonderful.  You entertained the crowd and I am hoping you are still going to turn up this year for the Christmas Carnival.  You have done a wonderful job so you should be proud of yourself and thank you on behalf of my Group as well.  Excellent….well done!”

Councillor David Griffiths – Chairman of the Council

“I have been proud to serve as your deputy for the past twelve months.  I am  ...  view the full minutes text for item C.4
